Flag Points #10 Part 1

Art, Coffee and G.I. Joe collide in this two parter as Don and Dave interview animation and comic book storytelling professor (where was he when we were in college?!) Tim Finn. Tim is writing an incredible and definitive  3 3/4" G.I. Joe "art of" and "history of" coffee table book called, "A Real American Book." Check out Tim's blog for the book here: http://arealamericanbook.wordpress.com/. You will be blown away. His teaser photos and his collection of original art are exactly what these podcasters have been dying to see for years! If the blog is exciting to fans, imagine what the book is going to be like! Thanks, Tim, for an awesome interview. We truly hope to talk again. Want to support the book? Like the project on FB here: http://www.facebook.com/arealamericanbook. Part two next week.

Thanks for the fun chat, guys! I misspoke: That cel from “Pyramid of Darkness” is Snake-Eyes, *Shipwreck,* Timber, and Polly, not Storm Shadow. If only there were a Sunbow cel of Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow! (There are, of course, DIC ones out there of the pair from “The Sword,” along with Scarlett a few popped up on ebay a few years back.) Sadly, like many of the others, the lines on it are fading.

Professor Tim Finn gave interesting insights on his involvement on the Rhino releases of G.I. Joe. I learned a lot about the toys from your interview. Great advice on collecting animation cels. Especially when it comes to repairing or recreating existing damaged ones.

Tim - We had a blast too! I am dying to see that cel! I guess I can wait for the book. :)

Another great show. Sounds like Professor Tim has incredible access to the Joe development tastiness — I’ll be getting the book fo’ shizzle. It was weird to hear singing on a Joe podcast and only cringe a little.

The singing came out of nowhere! It was awesome! Very funny stuff, Tim.

I had a lot of fun talking with Tim and asking questions… Of course I’ve thought of many more after our interview. Thanks again (Tim) for being on our show.
